Located near the corner of Ashby and San Pablo avenues, Middle East Market is a perfect addition to a multi-cultural crossroads at which you can get Mexican groceries and Southern cooking all in the same block. This deceivingly small West Berkeley market is stocked with every Middle Eastern staple that one could possibly need and is a true example of the phrase, “good things come in small packages.” From freshly made tahini, falafel, and grape leaves to canned goods and spices, it has it all. What’s more, the market, which is decked out to look like a Mediterranean villa, also has a cafe in the back where you can grab a kebab wrap and tabouli.
